Slayed - Storyline

Hi everyone!

As you know from past posts, I'm looking at turning my horror movie from 2001 into a novel.  Now I present to you the storyline of Slayed.  Let me know what you think with a comment below or a shout out on Twitter.

Remember, Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday the 13th provided the inspiration for the original film, so this is homage back them.

Rhiannon Elizabeth Irons

There's A Killer On Campus....

25 years ago, three students from Craven University were brutally slain on their way back to campus after a weekend away.

Their murders remain unsolved....

Now, a new generation of students are arriving at Craven University.

Katie Curtis and her friends are excited about being in college.  All their hard work has paid off and now they get to join the elite student body of Craven University.

But when a body appears on campus just days before the anniversary, Craven's dark history comes to light.  Someone wants Katie and her friends dead.  Someone who will stop at nothing to get the job done.

Racing against the clock, it's up to Katie and her friends to find who is behind the brutal slayings before their time is up.

  1. Love this idea. Was this the original concept from the movie because I read in your last interveiw that you wanted to change it up a bit.

  2. Sounds cool but I can't think of The Slayer without thinking of Buffy. I can see why you used it because it fits in well with the title, but isn't their another name you could use for it?

  3. Dom,
The original concept focused on high school students, simply because I was in high school when I wrote it. Now that I'm nearing 26 years of age, I changed the pretence a little so that the characters are older. : )

You're not the first person to tell me that. So I ask, can you think of any other suggestions for a name to be signed under the criptic messages left behind by the killer that also link well into the title? If you can, message me either on Twitter or leave another comment.

  4. Sweet idea ReiRei! Fuck what everyone says about the killers name. People are too quick to criticize in this day and age. Looking forward to reading what you've got.

  5. hahahahaha Craven University as in Wes Craven? Love it!

  6. OMG! You actually responded to me! This is sooo cool. OK, I'm done gushing :D

Actually, I can't think of another name for them. But no doubt with your mind they'll be scary and their identity will be a huge surprise :D

  7. Awww you dumped the idea of the killer being The Slayer and leaving messages. Race against the clock to kill the killer or be killed. That could work just as well. Totally agreeing with TJJ - Fuck everyone else. Just write for yourself :-D

  8. Only a couple of changes from the original film. No more high school kids and now no cryptic messages from The Slayer.

Rhiannon Irons, regards of storyline, will deliver thrills and chills with this novel. As someone who was part of the original film, I have to say I'm looking forward to the new novelization of Slayed and its sequels.

  9. Sounds just like every other horror movie ever made. Why not get some new ideas.

  10. @Anonymous - it's not a movie, it's a book and who gives a shit if it currently sounds similar to something you've watched before; with Rhiannon Irons' knowledge of horror, it won't be the same.
I think this is a good concept and seeing as it mimicks Rhiannon's favorite films, I can see that it'll be one hell of a book. Can't wait to read it.

  11. This sounds mondo fun and with your talents, mondo scary. Can't wait to see what you deliver on it.

P.S. Loving the new layout and design of your blog. Very fancy ;-)

  12. I remember you talking about this film and it's sequels. I can't wait to read the novel adaptations for them. Slayed, despite the inward humour, was a pretty awesome thing to be a part of. I'm actually looking forward more to this than Ahlephia.
